Drug arrest in Shelly Beach

The man was also charged with the possession of suspected stolen property and defeating the ends of justice.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in the Shelly Beach area for being in possession of drugs and suspected stolen property on Friday last week.

According to police, the man was arrested in Marine Drive by the Port Shepstone Tactical response team, Provincial and Port Shepstone SAPS K9 as well as members from Crime Intelligence.

The man, believed to be a foreign national, was also charged with defeating the ends of justice.

Margate police spokesman, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said the man had appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s court on Monday this week.

“He was denied bail and he remains in police custody. He will make another court appearance on March 30.”

Suspected stolen property recovered from the suspect.

The Ugu Cluster Commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele was pleased that the multi -disciplinary approach had resulted in an arrest.
