Youngsters from across South Africa took part in the various age groups.

Gussy Bunge of Paddock has put Izotsha Primary and the South Coast on the MTB map once again.

He produced a wonderful performance at the South African Schools champs, where he won the nipper (U9) category.

The event was held in Stellenbosch, Coetzenberg, with their particular race track being a section of the 2018 UCI MTB World Cup circuit.

The national final saw youngsters from across South Africa taking part in the various age groups.

Gussy won both days of the champs, with convincing leads. Day one was the schools champs, with the provincial champs thereafter.

The track was described as ‘hectic’ and actually best suited for KZN riders.

There was also some superb riding from Emma Rowbotham who took part in the sub junior girls’ category, where she placed ninth and 11th on the two days,

Peter Curtis, competing in the sub junior boys’ category, finished 38th.
