LOCKDOWN BLOG: When staying at home for 21 days hits home – Day 2

21 days - recovering from lockdown preparations.

So day one came and went pretty fast.

The rush and craziness of preparing for lockdown has taken its toll.

I feel like I am recovering from some kind of long distance marathon.

The kind of one, whereby, you suffer from a dull lingering headache long after the overexertion.

All that hype and now it’s over… ‘lockdown’ aka ‘imprisonment’ has suddenly become seriously real.

My life is never short of drama – and the morning on ‘d-day lockdown’ the  fridge with our basic provisions – to survive for 21 days – decides to pack-up.

One couldn’t ask for better timing.

Things start defrosting, enough, to make anyone hit a panic.

Panic set in when the fridge decided to pack-up hours before lockdown.

So off we go – screaming around town trying to find a new fridge and most importantly, get it delivered before the close of business (before lockdown, you know!).

(We won’t mention that when the new fridge promptly arrived – the old fridge got a new breathe of life – and seemed to be in perfect working order.  Then, confusion reigned whether we should keep the old fridge, or both, in the kitchen. Not a chance, two fridges in a small kitchen with a pack of dogs. One had to go.)

So this is it – 21 days confined to the yard.

This new concept of ‘self isolation’ is quickly starting to hit home.

Proud to say we haven’t left the house.

Not one toe out the gate.

Deep down, I feel proud of ourselves, we are acting like responsible adults.

The kind of adults who… suck it up, and stay at home!
