[WATCH] Celeb music video reminds South Africans to think of others in need
In spite of calls to refrain from panic buying and stockpiling, most people haven't heeded the call.

A video – don’t panic buy – shop thoughtfully – is doing the rounds on social media. It features some of South Africa’s best known celebrities, including Zolani Mahola, Karen Zoid, Majozi, Arno Carstens, Ard Matthews, Theo Crous, Francois van Coke, Kahn Morbee, Lira, Loyiso, Jack Parow and Early B.
The video has a strong message: Now more than ever, we need to look after each other. But some shoppers are still stockpiling unnecessarily, leaving empty shelves for others in need. That’s why friends don’t let friends panic buy!
After the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa of a 21-day lockdown which came into effect last Friday, supermarkets were overrun with people panic buying to stockpile goods. Also, on day one of lockdown, long queues continued outside supermarkets.
However, stockpiling is not just a South African phenomenon, it has occurred around the world, in some cases people bought trolley loads of toilet paper. Take a look SA’s musos reminding you that no one likes ‘that guy’ who stockpiles.
