The South Coast Covid-19 task team was formed on March 14 this year, in response to the coronavirus crisis.

The team is dedicated to mitigating the effects of Covid-19 on the local community and therefore will not be mentioning any names of people involved.

This is to ensure it remains focused on the mammoth task ahead.

Referral for testing can only be done by one’s doctor, who must do an interview with you, either in the rooms or telephonically.

To be tested, one needs to fulfill certain criteria. This is called the case definition.

One would also need to draw up a comprehensive contact list before being tested.

The government is not yet doing random testing, said the team. (Correct as of Wednesday 1st)

Accredited private laboratories with SANAS include Global Neuberg, Lancet and Ampath.

These tests cost R850.

Provincial sector testing spots include Port Shepstone Regional Hospital, Murchison Hospital, Gamalakhe Clinic and Turton Hospital.

These tests are free.
