Murder-accused Darren Govender back in court in October

Murder-accused Darren Govender is expected to appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court on October 28 for a pre-trial conference.
Govender handed himself over to police on February 12 last year after the fatal shooting of businessman Brad Hughes, 54, at a pub in Shelly Beach.
He is an assistant superintendent in the law enforcement department at Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Govender pleaded not guilty to charges of premeditated murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and reckless use of a firearm in public.
The murder charge is classified as a Schedule 6 offence.
Govender is currently out on bail of R15 000.
