Councillor ‘blown away’ at response from Port Edward community
Requests for assistance from families needing food are increasing daily.

A group of selfless individuals is feeding some 80 families from Palm Beach to Port Edward and inland.
Pastor John Pretorius and his wife, Marylyn from the Port Edward Methodist Church, Hazel Oosthuis of the Help Foundation, Councillor Stephanie Breedt and Doug Powell from Port Edward Ratepayers’ Association have been working closely to help those in need.

The group has received incredible support from the Ratepayers’ Associations of Port Edward and Leisure Bay and the Leisure Bay Conservancy.
Cllr Breedt said she was ‘blown away’ at how the community had pulled together to help those who had no income and no food during lockdown.
John and Marylyn have been putting parcels together daily and John said it was heartbreaking to see the constant flow of people asking for food.
Cllr Breedt said the requests for assistance from families needing food was growing daily.
She thanked GP Security for always being available to collect and deliver food parcels.
If anyone would like to assist, donations of non-perishable food can be placed in the trolley at Splash Saverite in Port Edward.
