Port Shepstone VisPol Commander retires
Colonel Naicker said that he would not have been as successful had it not been for the continuous love, support and understanding from his wife who is a Captain at SAPS Umzinto, his family, colleagues and friends.
After 36 years spent serving the local community, Port Shepstone’s well loved and respected Visible Policing Commander, Colonel Pragasan Shanmugan Naicker is saying goodbye.
He retires from the police service at the end of June and for his colleagues and the Port Shepstone community, it’s a big loss.

During his years of service, he worked in a variety of policing environments and disciplines. Colonel Naicker’s career started in Umzinto in October 1983.
From August 1993 to May 1999 he was the Station Commander of SAPS Umzinto then Station Commander of SAPS Scottburgh from June 1999 to October 2017.
From November 2017 until retirement Colonel Naicker was the Visible Policing Commander at SAPS Port Shepstone where he also acted as Station Commander on numerous occasions.
Between 2007/2008 Colonel Naicker was given the responsibility of being Scottburgh Cluster Commander where he ensured the optimal functioning and management of Scottburgh, Umkomaas, Dududu, Umzinto and Sawoti policing areas.
Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele and SAPS Port Shepstone Station Commander, Brigadier Sandra Nala thanked Colonel Naicker for his steadfast loyalty towards the service.
“His selfless and patriotic action is deeply appreciated by the organisation and he is wished a healthy and happy retirement with his loved ones.”
