Leila’s Lane: Car crash victim returns home after nine months in hospital

Lesley Botha spent nine months in hospital in Durban and underwent numerous operations.

Lesley Botha, who was involved in a horrific car accident last year is finally coming home to Umtentweni. It’s awesome news.

She spent nine months in hospital in Durban and underwent numerous operations. A confident Lesley said she will still need the assistance of a carer and therapy on her journey to independence.

It’s been a torrid unsettling time in Tweni this past week, with two crime incidents taking place.

Intruders entered one particular property, where shots were fired  at the unarmed residents during the early hours of the morning.

In the second instance, a woman was attacked in her driveway while walking to her vehicle last Saturday morning. She suffered cracked ribs, bruising, cuts and abrasions. Let’s hope that the current curfew brings some respite to homeowners during the longer night hours.

All I can say is expect the unexpected, and if you have a security company do not hesitate to contact them if you are concerned.

On a brighter note, there has been plenty of dolphin and whale activity along the coastline and many beautiful photos of sunrises have been shared on WhatsApp.

Two local doctors have issued warnings about how Covid-19 infections will affect our coast so heed the warnings and, where possible, stay at home, take precautions, and protect yourself and your staff.

Until next time, stay safe.
