Long-awaited new bridge now a reality for Umzumbe community

The bridge will replace the one which was washed away in the October 2014 floods.

The community of Kwaqoloqolo in Umzumbe is set to get a new bridge.
According to the municipality, the bridge will replace the one which was washed away in the  October 2014 floods.
The tender was awarded to Vangiswa Projects, and the engineer is Turn Key Projects.
At the site handover, Umzumbe mayor, Londolo Zungu said the construction of the bridge was a result of government’s collective efforts to bring proper infrastructure to poor communities.
“The community of Umzumbe has long complained about not having a bridge since it collapsed many years ago. Today we are happy to announce the appointed contractor who will be responsible for constructing the new bridge.”
