Scottburgh helps bake a difference
The Scottburgh Lions Club and volunteers helped raised thousands for Cupcake of Hope.
Hundreds and thousands of cupcakes were sold in malls across South Africa on National Cupcake Day.
In Scottburgh in particular, the Scottburgh Lions Club and volunteers sold 470 cupcakes and raised R11 020, which was handed over to Cupcakes of Hope.
Every cupcake baked, every donation made, every hour given and every prayer lifted has made a difference in the lives of little cancer patients.
Local coordinator and Lion Anna de Klerk said that supporting organisations such as Cupcakes of Hope and Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer is important to the club.
“Whenever an organisation approaches us, the Lions will do what they can to serve,” she said.
Some 64 cupcakes were later donated.
The Lions also thank Scottburgh Mall for use of the premises, the bakers (cupcake angels), the community for buying cupcakes, the volunteers and Lions who gave their time, and Dimple Govender from Shape Up Women’s Fitness for the generous donation.
This generosity helps Cupcakes of Hope continue assisting more than 140 little cancer patients every month, bringing practical help, hope and love when it’s needed most.
The total amount raised at South African malls this year was R2,106,021.
