March and March members face bail hearing at Port Shepstone Magistrate's Court

The chairperson of March and March Lower South Coast, Sabelo Cele, urged everyone to allow due process to take its course.

March and March members and KwaNzimakwe leaders were arrested and appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court on October 1.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that Margate police arrested three men, aged between 40 and 55, in connection with extortion.

All three remain in custody and were expected to apply for bail on October 8.

In a public statement, Sabelo Cele, chairperson of March and March Lower South Coast, urged everyone to allow due process to take its course.

“As the March and March Lower South Coast leadership, together with the KwaNzimakwe community, we are working tirelessly to ensure that our members receive the necessary legal support and that every lawful avenue is pursued towards their release.”

Cele said it is understandable that emotions are high, but he appeals to everyone to remain calm, peaceful and responsible.

“Let us maintain stability in KwaNzimakwe, the Lower South Coast and South Africa at large.”
