Dududu tuckshop owner accused of raping a child

The victim was threatened at knifepoint.

A Dududu tuckshop owner was arrested after being accused of raping a child.

According to police reports, the victim was asked by her aunt to make a purchase at a nearby tuckshop.

“The girl told police that when she entered the tuckshop, she was grabbed by the owner, who placed a cloth over her mouth and instructed her not to scream,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

“She was threatened with a knife and raped.”

The tuckshop owner is expected to in court again on August 27.

Captain Francis has appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that minors are accompanied by an adult whenever they are tasked with errands.

The case is being investigated by Detective Sergeant Vuyiswa Dlamini of the Umzinto Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
