The shop was established by Duncan and Gloria Hutchison and was originally called 'Hutch's Den'.

Duncan and Gloria Hutchison started the shop, then known as Hutch’s Den, in 1980.

Twenty-one years later, in January 2002, the shop moved to bigger premises opposite the Blue Marlin Hotel at the entrance to Scottburgh and was given a new name – Atlantis.

The shop sold a range of shells, wind-chimes, crafts, pearls, jewellery and gifts.

After Duncan died, his daughter Cindy du Plessis took over the shop, which welcomed a steady flow of local, national and  international customers over the years.

“We would like to thank each and everyone of our customers for their support over the years. We will miss them all,” said Gloria.
