Mid South Coast Mail joins forces with sister paper for extended reach

The Mid South Coast issue will be distributed free of charge via bulk-drops to retail outlets, public institutions, schools and services on a Wednesday, with the flagship Herald sold as usual at retail outlets on Thursdays.

The South Coast Herald is proud of its new Ugu District news section.

This section, which was launched last week, will be inserted into a newly reformulated and bulked up hybrid model of two weekly publications, namely the South Coast Herald and the South Coast Herald Mid South Coast editions.

Unfortunately, the light blue masthead of the Mail has been ‘retired’ but the hope is that its loyal readers will find ‘their’ news as well as added value in the new product, albeit under a different banner.

The Mid South Coast issue will be distributed free of charge via bulk-drops to retail outlets, public institutions, schools and services on a Wednesday, with the flagship Herald sold as usual at retail outlets on Thursdays.

“While this bold initiative takes place at a testing time for the newspaper industry, it is testament to our belief in the relevance of print for both readers and advertisers on the greater South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal,” said the Herald’s business manager, Michelle Izatt.

“We are convinced that this regionalised news offering will provide national advertisers with a way to reach a larger audience, one which contains local emerging markets as well as a broader swathe of readers across the Mid and Lower South Coast market, using a redesigned distribution model which covers all the viable hubs within the Ugu district area of the KZN South Coast.”

Distribution areas include Umkomaas, Scottburgh, Pennington, Umzinto, Hibberdene, Port Shepstone, Margate, Shelly Beach, Ramsgate, Southbroom, Port Edward and Bizana in the Eastern Cape, and inland to Harding.
