Aunt and niece shot dead in Malangeni

Neighbours heard gunshots at around 7pm, but were unable to determine the source of the noise.

Two women, aged 40 and 23 respectively, were shot and killed at a house in the Nkumbane area in Malangeni earlier this month.

They were alerted to the shooting when the daughter (5) of the 40-year-old victim ran to them for help, saying that her mother and cousin had been shot.

“The neighbours discovered that both the women had died from their wounds,” said Scottburgh Saps communications officer, Captain Adam Francis.

“They also found a month-old infant in the house, unharmed.”

The double murder is being investigated by Detective Warrant Officer Steyn Moonsamy of Umzinto Detective Services.
