McKenzie Cup triumph for Southbroom Golf Club

The course was in superb condition.

Southbroom Golf Club took full advantage of home-course territory, and a little luck from the countout, to win the McKenzie Cup recently.

Gavin Sole, Grant Richards, Brian Jolliffe and Johan Wentzel teamed up to score 173 points over the two days.

They were helped by Gavin shooting rounds of 66 and 65.

They denied Southern neighbours Port Edward B on a countout, Port Edward’s team comprising Brian Mannix, Warrick Swart, Clyde Filer and Matt Hudson.

In third place on 162 points were Margate C, namely Blake Taylor, Kobus Fick, Mike Lepan and Kevin Deley.

Southbroom C took fourth pace on 160 points, namely Malcolm Greenland, Nicky Smith, James Carlsen and Ross McKay.

Kokstad A were fifth on 159 points, their team being Martin Haigh, Dave Louwrens, Chooks Louwrens and Orrion Shand.

They counted out Southbroom’s Christer Solgevik, Werner Duggan, Thami Xolo and Grant Richards junior.
