Port Edward golfers clinch McKenzie Cup

Port Shepstone Country Club hosted the annual McKenzie Cup last weekend.
Winners were Port Edward Country Club players Roelf Craig, Dennis Kockott, Martin Nagtegaal and Kevin Murray.
They won on a countout from Kokstad A’s team comprising Chooks Louwrens, Neill Mannix, Martin Haigh and Dave Louwrens.

The previous Wednesday’s competition was won by Bevis Fairbrother on 39 points.
The business day last Friday, sponsored by the pro shop and Umthunzi, was won on 90 points by Howard Crouch, Ian Stewart, Smittie Stieger and Leon Reeders.
Runners-up were Louis Klopper, Terry Kotze, Rob Vogt and Thys Blom on 88 points, counting out Gary Purtell, Peter Leeman, Gavin Sole and Jan Roos.
It was a betterball Stableford last Saturday, with winners being Johann du Plessis and Thys Blom on 45 points, counting out Hans and Marietjie Stols.
At Southbroom Golf Club, the competition last Wednesday saw three pairs card 42 points, namely Sandy FitzGerald and Janet Humphrey, Dave and John Fox, as well as Alex and Ken Crawford.
The Saturday competition was won by club captain Don Osbourn and John Neaves on 46 points, by one from Della Kempthorne and Lee Mutch.
Chicken Run scores: Chris Miller 23 points, Kai Hielckert 20, Malcolm Greenland 20, Derek Pieterse 19, Geoff Skelton 19.
At Margate Country Club, the women played an alliance last Tuesday.
Winners were Lizzie Meyer, Hilary Hendry, Maureen Ogilvie and Hannelie Pretorius with 90 points.
In second place on 89 points were Dawn Howden, Jean Page, Lesley Erasmus and Maureen Ogilvie (ghost).
