2 dead, 16 injured in St Faith’s Road collision

One critically injured patient was trapped and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

A truck and taxi collided on St Faith’s Road near Oshabeni earlier this afternoon, leaving two people dead and 16 injured.

Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said paramedics found that one person was critically injured and was trapped in one of the vehicles.

With the help of rescue services, the trapped patient was stabilised and extricated. “The 15 other patients sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor,” he said. 

All the patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital.

“Two people were fatally injured and had died before emergency services arrived,” said Mr Botha.
