From the Word: Set free
True freedom is being forgiven of sin – the yoke of slavery – and the Christian belief is that this can only be obtained through repentance and belief in Jesus Christ.

In recent times, with the lockdown forced upon all due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many have felt their freedom greatly restricted.
Others have not been bothered in the slightest.
For Christians it’s been a time to remember or consider the words of Paul in Galatians chapter 5 vs 1: ‘It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery’.
True freedom is being forgiven of sin – the yoke of slavery – and the Christian belief is that this can only be obtained through repentance and belief in Jesus Christ.
So, while life may be restrictive, difficult or uncomfortable at times it’s worth remembering and being encouraged by knowing that the word of God cannot be chained or enslaved.
Better to be a ‘slave to Christ’ as Paul writes, than ‘free’ without God’s peace in a world which appears to be hurtling towards destruction in so many ways.
