Three informal settlements sanitised
This took place at three of Umdoni's informal settlements, namely Msholozi, Lindelani and Thokoza.
As the number of Covid-19 cases increase in the country, so have the precautionary measures put in place to combat this virus.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has repeatedly stated that sanitisation must be done as much as possible to help stop the spread of the virus.
With this in mind, Umdoni Municipality‘s Ward 13 Councillor, Sboniso Cele, together with volunteers from Human Settlements, embarked on a door-to-door disinfectant distribution and sanitisation campaign recently.
This took place at three of Umdoni’s informal settlements, namely Msholozi, Lindelani and Thokoza.
“It is very important that we keep our communities as safe as possible,” said Umdoni Municipality mayor, Cllr Sibongile Khathi.
“Whatever we are doing this festive season, we must ensure that we spread the word about sanitising, wearing a mask and washing hands.”
The various communities were urged to protect themselves and keep as safe as possible during the pandemic.
“We have lost loved ones through Covid-19 and we cannot afford to lose more,” said Cllr Cele.
The programme is expected to continue until February.
