Suidie’s golf day a hit for hospice

Some R6100 was raised, plus an extra R1500 donated by EMA Comfy, PoolFection and Isakhiwo Corp, who donated R500 each, so in all R7600.

The inaugural Suid-Natal High golf day, which took place at Port Shepstone Country Club on a rainy afternoon last Friday, was a huge success, with golfers and supporters digging deep into their pockets to support South Coast Hospice.

Supporters Club: Members of the Suidies Ondersteuners, were out showing their support for the school and for the Hospice on Friday.

“We decided to make the South Coast Hospice our main beneficiary. It’s been a terrible year and we thought we should end it in a positive way,” said Tannah Streobel, the school’s marketing director.

Some R6100 was raised, plus an extra R1500 donated by EMA Comfy, PoolFection and Isakhiwo Corp, who donated R500 each, so in all R7600.

South Coast Hospice CEO Diane van Wyk received the donation on behalf of the hospice and expressed her gratitude to the school.

Suid-Natal High principal Jakkie Herbst hands over a cheque to South Coast Hospice’s CEO Diane van Dyk (middle) and marketer BT King.

“We’d really like to thank Suid-Natal for this Suidies golf day, and the wonderful cheque we’ve received. It’s been a very hard year for us and this is such a blessing because we’ve had to make a lot sacrifices and seeing some money come in is great,” she said.

Within the spirit of raising funds an auction was also hosted by vice-principal Lance Grobler, where the first two items sold were books written by Tendai ‘The Beast’ Mtawarira.

Both were sold for R1000 each. A signed Sharks rugby ball was sold for R2700 and a signed Sharks jersey for R4000.

The auctioned items, bought by EMA Comfy, will be framed and then donated back for next year’s auction.

It’s set to become an annual event, with a trophy sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach.

Other main sponsors were Halfway Ford Port Shepstone and Haval Shelly Beach.
