Golden Oldies thrive at Tweni

The tournament was a great success.

Spectators were treated to four days of exciting tennis during the Ugu Pro-Kennex National Seniors’ Tennis Tournament last weekend.

The Golden Oldies (60+ age groups) played at Umtentweni Tennis Club and it was wonderful to have players from all over South Africa playing here on the South Coast.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to the organisers for a very well-run tournament.

All members who contributed in any way to the success of the tournament at Tweni, be it by supplying eats for tea, making tea/coffee on demand and cooking the lunches or by availing themselves for other duties are sincerely thanked for their efforts even though there were some who weren’t able to move too well after a day of serving the players.

Stuart Lyall and Meeku were on duty every day and Stuart did a great job as our ‘money-taker’

Without all of you we wouldn’t have been able to keep Tweni’s flag flying so high.

Members are advised that the Spoon Competition will be held over till January so there will not be a competition or bring-and-braai this Saturday – just enjoyable, relaxing social tennis.

Saturday duty: December 19 – Mervyn Tarboton; December 26 – Dan Dimitriu.
