Matric results expected in February
2020 Matric learners will have to wait longer than usual to receive their results.
Schools are expected to open towards the end of the month, but 2020 matriculants will have to hold their collective breathe for a while longer before receiving their results.
Sihle Mlotshwa, spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education, said marking of exams will start this Friday (8th).
The Class of 2020 can only expect to receive results by February 23 this year, more than a month later than usual.
Mr Mlosthwa said there were no changes regarding plans to re-open schools on Monday, January 25, teachers first and then learners.
In August last year the department announced that teachers will report for duty on January 25 with learners returning a few days thereafter.
“The Department last year made it clear it will complete the school year and that the only ‘carry over’ from 2020 would be the finalisation of the marking of matric results and the release of those results.”
Mlosthwa said the Department was still waiting for the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Sihle Zikalala, to clarify a few issues in a public speech, which was expected to take place fairly soon.
“The Premier will announce more pertinent information when he addresses the province. He will then outline everything that needs to be known,” said Mr Mlotshwa.
