Bobby Naidoo a ‘true champion’ of South Coast community

He started his career in the motor industry on the South Coast at a young age, most notably with Rensco Motors.

Bobby Naidoo (75) of Port Shepstone died peacefully on January 7.

Bobby was born into a humble working-class family in Port Shepstone and worked through the obstacles of a divided society to become a successful businessman.

Through the years he proved himself an achiever, a hard worker but above all, a humble servant to God, family and community.

Bobby Naidoo was indeed a socialite of note. He would inevitably be found present at any community event, jolly and smiling bringing along with him celebrations and a few choice dance moves.

He started his career in the motor industry on the South Coast at a young age, most notably with Rensco Motors.

He formed lasting relationships with his clientele based on mutual respect and customer service.

His strong ambition in this field led him to open his own business, Central Car Sales, where he flourished as an entrepreneur.

Bobby Naidoo was a trustee and active member at many community organisations, such as the Tamil Federation KwaZulu-Natal, Port Shepstone Hindu Education Society, Port Shepstone Tamil Association, Port Shepstone Hindu Cultural Federation, Mayoral Golf Development Trust, and the Port Shepstone Tourism Association.

Two of his greatest passions were golf and football.

He was a long-standing member of Port Shepstone Football Association, Albersville United Sports and Social Club and a die-hard Liverpool fan.

He was an avid golfer, a proud member of Southern Natal Nomads and in his early years, chairman of Port Shepstone Country Club.

He selflessly used these positions to introduce many communities to golf. He had an uncanny ability to hold highly sought-after golf tournaments, attracting players from far and wide, where he would always surpass previous amounts raised for charity.

His community work and public-spirited generosity was defined by his remarkable fund-raising ability.

Many have experienced his fund-raising skills which have benefitted many of the above mentioned organisations.

In his latter years, Bobby and his wife Dinah dedicated themselves as members of The Port Shepstone Tamil Association, where they worked tirelessly to answer all the religious and cultural needs of the Tamil community.

Bobby undoubtedly distinguished himself as a true champion of our community.

No role was more precious to him than that of devoted family man.

The love he had for his family and his grandchildren had to be experienced as no words can express it.

Bobby will be sadly missed by his wife Dinah, children Pranusha, Yashiren, Kalyssa, son-in-law Navin, grandchildren Syan and Aria, brothers and sisters and a host of family and friends.

Despite the grief that this loss has brought, Bobby’s legacy will be one of gratitude, service to humanity and a special kind of humility and respect to all.
