Umdoni Municipality appoints acting municipal manager and chief financial officer

The council resolution to temporarily appoint Mr Silinga and Mr Dlamini follows the receipt of a list of recommended candidates from the Department of Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), where both incumbents were included.

Following the suspension of Umdoni Municipality’s municipal manager, Dr Vuyiwe Tsako and pending the current investigations against other senior officials on alleged financial misconduct, council has appointed both Mzubanzi Silinga and Simon Dlamini as the interim municipal manager and chief financial officer respectively.

Mr Silinga and Mr Dlamini are expected to assist the municipality function like it should, pending the conclusion of the current processes being undertaken in relation to these positions.

“It must be noted that Mr Silinga has been appointed for a three month acting contract while Mr Dlamini will serve in this position on a month to month basis until a formal appointment is made on this position,” said Sphelele Cele, Umdoni communications manager.

“The council resolution to temporarily appoint Mr Silinga and Mr Dlamini follows after the receipt of a list of recommended candidates from the Department of Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) where both incumbents were included.”

Umdoni mayor, Cllr Sibongile Khathi, was pleased with CoGTA’s recommendation and stated that she is confident that Mr Silinga and Mr Dlamini will help the municipality get back on track administratively and in the delivery of services to the community.
