Police constable succumbs to Covid-19
He was an Umzinto resident and matriculated at Umzinto Secondary School.
Constable Maneshen Pillay (24) of Scottburgh Saps lost his battle to Covid-19 last week Friday (29th).
He was an Umzinto resident and matriculated at Umzinto Secondary School.
Thereafter, he attended police college and was assigned to Scottburgh Police Station in 2017.
Scottburgh Saps members bid farewell to their colleague at the station on Sunday afternoon (31st), accompanied by family and friends.
The station’s communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, addressed all who attended and described Cst. Pillay as a dedicated and disciplined member.
“He was a very brave young man who served the Saps with loyalty and faithfulness,” he said.
Station Commander, Colonel Ralph Ruiters, added that Cst. Pillay was a member who served with dignity.
“I will always remember him for his dedication and commitment. He gave his all to the Saps and the community of Scottburgh and for that we are very grateful,” he said.
Col. Ruiters saluted Cst. Pillay’s parents, Logan and Shamilla, and presented them with a South African flag in their son’s honour.
Cst. Pillay was described by his friends and family as a strong person who radiated love to everyone he was in contact with.
He touched the hearts of countless people and was an inspiration to many, with his colleagues looking up to and respecting him.
When he wasn’t serving his community, or resting on his days off, he enjoyed outdoor activities such as going to beaches, parks and sightseeing.
He leaves behind his parents and brother, Thavashan.
