Card scammer nabbed at mall

On arrival at the mall, police spotted the man and managed to apprehend him.

A man (42), found in possession of 18 different bankcards, identity documents and smart shopping cards, appeared at the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Monday this week for being in possession of stolen property.

Police spokesman, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, said the alertness of public order police officers in Margate led to the arrest of a 42-year-old last Friday (5th).

“Police officers received information about the man, who was suspected of card scamming at a shopping mall in Margate,” she said.

On arrival at the mall, police spotted the man and managed to apprehend him.

He was searched and found in possession of the cards and documents.

Col Mbele said that when officers questioned the man about the cards he failed to provide them with a satisfactory explanation and was placed under arrest.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya commended the police officers for swiftly arresting the man.
