The Ugu District Municipality has discontinued the use of service providers for meter readings.
The municipality has now officially started using its own staff to read meters in all its areas within the supply of the district.
Residents and customers can identify them in their blue Ugu uniforms bearing an Ugu logo.
This is in line with the municipality’s effort to improve the billing system and revenue collection.
This means the readings will now be based on customers’ actual consumption and not estimate-based on their historic consumption.
Therefore, customers are urged to grant Ugu workers access to their meters.
The municipality also urges customers to ensure they pay their bills to allow for continuation of services by the municipality.
