Mayor honours the Class of 2020
The ceremony took place at Port Shepstone High School on Tuesday this week.
Ugu District Municipality Mayor Sizwe Ngcobo has honoured the best performing matriculants in the district during the award ceremony of the provincial release of the 2020 National Senior Certificate Results.

“Our district schools have produced some of the country’s top performers this year and remains the top achiever among districts in the province.
However, we should also recognise the achievements of all our learners who have worked so hard during their school careers,” said Mayor Ngcobo.
He also paid tribute to all educators, teacher unions, the principals and school management teams, school governing bodies, parents, the business community, political formations, and all stakeholders who have effectively participated in ensuring that learners received quality education during the difficult period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“As government, we pledge our support to our learners to realise their full potential and we have placed education at the apex of our priorities in pursuit of our continued efforts of growing our district together.
Through education we shall conquer the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.”
