Cannabis and counterfeit cash confiscated

Cannabis and a substantial amount of counterfeit cash has been confiscated by police from a premises in Old St Faith’s Road in Umtentweni.
During the raid, police also confiscated a pile of counterfeit CDs.
A source, who wished to remain anonymous but is known to the Herald, said the raid had taken place at an abandoned building which housed a large cannabis laboratory growing plants and making dried products.
The value of this is believed to be in the region of R1 000 000.
Police spokesman Captain Petros Mpinge confirmed that a case had been opened for investigation.
He said a foreign national was arrested last Friday (26th) by members of the Saps Tactical Response Team and Margate Crime Intelligence, with the assistance of local law enforcement and the Shelly Beach Community Policing Forum.
Capt Mpinge said a 35-year-old man had also been charged for contravening the immigration act.
He has since appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court and the case has been postponed to a later date to allow for further investigation.
