Vandalism of an Eskom substation on Temple Road in Umzinto has left parts of Umzinto, particularly Gandhinagar, and Park Rynie in darkness since Sunday (March 14).

Eskom issued out an update on the matter today (17) informing the effected communities that the power outage will continue until Friday (19) this week.

Technical teams are on site and currently replacing the transformer.

Eskom apologises for the inconveniences caused and urges these residents to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous.
