Three children dead in horror head-on collision near Ramsgate
Emergency personnel described it as one of the worst scenes they have been at in a long time.
Three children died in a head-on collision involving two taxis on the R61, just past the Ramsgate off-ramp, this morning.
The collision left a further four people, including children, seriously injured, and 13 more with injuries described as moderate. One child (so far) was airlifted to hospital.

Rob Mckenzie of KZN Emergency Services said multiple patients were treated by paramedics and the road was closed.

Glen Preston of Medevac said there were multi-entrapments which involved them using the jaws of life to assist with vehicle extrication of the crash victims.
“One of the children was airlifted to Durban to be treated,” he said.
