High five for John and Norman

Several teams finished on 39 points.

Judging by the low scores, it seems the sweltering heat and wind finally took their toll on the players.

We’ve become accustomed to exceptional scores, so it was sobering to see a scoreboard the reflected the full spectrum from great effort to downright diabolical.

Sadly, the writer and her partner were amongst those that experienced the latter!

Winning on a very good 42 points were John Webster and Norman Mackay.

The pair dovetailed well to amass a very respectful score in the tough conditions.

Husband and wife team, Willie and Sue Boucher played the steady golf they’ve become known for and came in second on 40 points.

Several teams finished on 39 points and count-outs allowed two pairs Brian Kassel and Bing Opie, and Francois Rossouw and Christopher Pillay, to bag prizes too.

The next Blue Tees midweek league begins on Wednesday 24th.

Umkomaas will host a Family Day on Monday, April 4.

Wednesday is St Patrick’s Day and Umkomaas will be pulling out the green to celebrate.

The Wednesday IPS competition will take place as usual, however we’re encouraging golfers to come out sporting green in the hopes of calling on the luck of the Irish.

In the evening we’ll be celebrating the event with music, drinks, and Irish stew.

Bookings are essential as a limited number can attend to ensure Covid-19 protocols.
