Two police officers, aged 37 and 34, were struck dead by a vehicle on the N2 near Themba Forest in Harding last Sunday (25th) at 8.15pm.
The officers, from Harding Saps, had attended the scene of an accident where a taxi had collided with a horse.
Police spokesman Colonel Thembeka Mbele said commuters who had been traveling in the taxi sustained slight injuries and were taken to hospital for further treatment.
Col. Mbele said the policemen had been returning to their vehicle when they were struck down.
They were both confirmed dead at the scene.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened at Harding police station.
