Child (14-months old) drowns in residential pool in Pennington

The child was found in the pool by a relative who immediately contacted Netcare 911 and NSRI Shelly Beach.

A 14-month old female child drowned in a pool at a residential complex in Pennington this morning (July 8) at 10:15.

It is believed that the child was found in the pool by a relative who immediately proceeded to contact Netcare 911 and NSRI Shelly Beach.

“On arrival the patient was found unresponsive and not breathing,” said Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911.

“It is not known how long the child had been submerged for.”

The team performed a full advanced life support resuscitation, but the child’s condition rapidly deteriorated and was declared dead at the scene.
