New Sea Cadets area officer for KZN
Lt Naidoo brings all these skills and experience to assist the maritime training of the youth in the province.
Sea Cadets (SCC) has appointed ex Naval technical and strike craft qualified, Lieutenant Ronnie Naidoo, as the area officer for KwaZulu-Natal, which includes Port Shepstone.
Lt Naidoo was born in Durban and has qualifications and experience in project management, logistics, occupational health and safety and quality management.
He served in the SA Navy on board strike craft and ashore in a technical capacity.
Lt Naidoo brings all these skills and experience to assist the maritime training of the youth in the province.
He will assist the commanding officer of TS Tiburon, SLt Rajesh Supershad.
His vision for the KZN region is to create a safe space for the sea cadets to undergo their maritime training.
This includes ensuring that all the Covid-19 protocols are stringently adhered to.
He also hopes to finalise and sign a new TS Tiburon rental lease with Transnet, complete the planned and scheduled renovations, additions and general upkeep of TS Tiburon.
Lt Naidoo would like to increase the annual intake of sea cadets to ensure that more opportunities are created for the youth, as well as vigorously marketing the Sea Cadet Corps to local schools, businesses, industry and maritime agencies.
He is looking to explore opening at least another unit in KZN within the next years.
Areas under consideration are Richard’s Bay, Port Shepstone and Pietermaritzburg.
Additionally, he hopes to introduce a week long Sea Cadet Leadership and Management symposium and to reintroduce the annual Gun Run as a joint venture with the local municipalities and the navy.
