Possible municipal service disruptions if violent protests persist

Municipal services might be affected tomorrow following rumors of potential protests.

In view of the ongoing volatility in some parts of the district which has manifested into violent protests, the Ugu Municipality has advised residents of a potential disruption to water and sanitation services.

Portable water tanker services have already been restricted from delivering water due to the prevalent escalating acts of torching of trucks.

The municipality will continue to monitor and assess the situation until it becomes conducive to deliver portable water to the affected areas.

With rumors circulating about a highly anticipated violent “shutdown” tomorrow (July 12), other municipal services might also be adversely affected while the safety of municipal resources are being safeguarded.
