Umdoni News by Mayor Khathi: Community support commended on Umdoni rehabilitation
And as promised by this council, councilors have duly exercised their oversight role to ensure implementation as per the work contracts.
Since the launch of the Umdoni Service Delivery Turnaround Strategy, communities have witnessed the much-longed for change through the active implementation of this wall-to-wall rehabilitation plan which aims to transform even the so called neglected parts of Umdoni area.
Round the clock restoration work is being undertaken for grass cutting, traffic lights, repairs of community facilities, waste collection and power repairs amongst others.
Rural roads have shifted from a dilapidated and unusable state as repair work continues to ensure they are user-friendly to both traffic and people even in poor weather.
Progress in the grass-cutting program is evident as sites continue being busy since the commencement of this program.
And as per the performance agreement between the municipality and the contractors work continues in Freeland Park to Scottburgh, Park Rynie to Total Garage, Park Rynie to Rocky Bay, Pennington, Ifafa Glebe, Sezela, Bazley, Ifafa Beach and Elysium, Mthwalume, Gandinaghar to Riverside Park, Asoka Heights, Hazelwood, Kadville, St Patrick’s, St Andrews, Coastal Farmers, Shayamoya and Esperanza.
The work of repairing robots is also noticeably progressing in Park Rynie, Pennington, Scottburgh North and South, Umzinto, Mthwalume, Bazley and Ifafa area.
We can now safely say that numerous roads in the urban area are now in good condition following the conclusion of the rehabilitation process on them.
Some of the roads attended to include Douglas, Palm, Barracuda, Raymond, Selbourne, Sanathan and Msholozi to name a few.
And as promised by this council, councilors have duly exercised their oversight role to ensure implementation as per the work contracts.
I commend the efforts and collaboration depicted in this program. We will continue to closely monitor these projects to ensure they are completed and of good quality.
As the leadership of Umdoni, we thank the Umdoni community members and various community structures for working with the municipality to bring about this change in our communities. We are indeed upholding our service delivery motto of working together to build better communities.
