Suspected copper pipe thief arrested
Local Saps was contacted and the man was arrested for suspected stolen property.
An alert Park Rynie Crime Watch member was driving near St Francis Primary School in Park Rynie on Saturday morning (18th) around 09:00 when he noticed a man carrying a shoulder bag and another small bag.
The member felt the behaviour was suspicious and stopped the man, simultaneously contacting Gladiator Security Services for assistance.
The member then identified himself and requested to check the man’s bags.
He found the man in possession of copper pipes and numerous taps.
According to the member, he could offer no explanation as to how these items in his possession were acquired and thereafter failed to offer a reasonable response.
Local Saps was contacted and the man was arrested for suspected stolen property.
The crime watch group and locals thank the alert member and Gladiators operations manager Hennie Potgieter and team for the quick response and good work.
