Child (3) survives near drowning in public pool in Port Shepstone

The lifeguards quickly performed CPR on the child.

A three-year-old child was found face down in the pool at the Port Shepstone public swimming pool on Monday afternoon at about 17.00.

‘According to members of the public, the girl was found face down in the pool,” said Shawn Herbst of Netcare 911.

“The child was pulled from the water and found to be unresponsive and not breathing, CPR was promptly initiated by lifeguards,” he said.

Herbst said that on arrival of Netcare 911 paramedics, the child was found to be responsive.

Once treated the child was transported to hospital for further care.
