Veterans who have answered sunset call remembered
Today, all those who fought and are fighting in all conflicts are remembered including those who have fought for the South African Armed Forces.
Remembrance Day is a day to remember those who paid the ultimate price and those veterans who have passed on.
This was first started on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
Moina Belle Michael was so taken by a poem, ‘In Flanders Fields’, that she dedicated her life to remembering those who fought in WWI.

The Red Poppy has become the symbol by which this event is commemorated each year.
The South African Legion and the MOTHS are dedicated to raising funds to assist veterans and their families.
The Moths and Friends of the Moths from Splash Rock Shellhole in Port Edward will be distributing poppies to the public at Mac Banana on Saturday, November 13 from 9:00.
Splash Rock Shellhole will hold a memorial service at the Methodist Church in Newport Road, Port Edward on Sunday, November 14. Pastor John Pretorius (a Moth from Splash Rock Shellhole) will conduct the service at 8:30. All denominations are welcome.
There will be a Remembrance Parade at the Wall of Remembrance at Port Edward Country Club on Sunday, November 14 at 11:00.
The public is warmly invited to join in this ceremony to remember those veterans who have answered the sunset call.
There will be a wreath laying ceremony, feel free to lay a wreath in honour of a loved one.
