ANC earns 37 seats in RNM, 8 in Ugu

Even though the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) hopes to take over Ugu, the African National Congress (ANC) believes it is still in charge.

The IFP says it is talking to other political parties about coalitions, such as the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).

While that is still in process, the list of names for the top three positions for local and district municipalities have been submitted to the province.

New councillors have started their duties and they are now waiting for the official inauguration.

In the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM), the ANC took 51.78% of votes and earned 37 seats in council.

The DA followed with 19.78% and earned 14 seats.

The IFP has 11.19% and eight seats.

The EFF has 9.98% and seven seats

Vryheidsfront Plus/Freedom Front has 1.50% and 1 seat.

In Ugu District Municipality:

ANC earned eight seats, DA two seats, IFP three seats and EFF has two seats.
