Search is on for missing swimmer off Glenmore Beach

Two swimmers had been swimming in the sea when they got caught by a rip current.

SAPS Search and Rescue together with NSRI are still searching for a missing swimmer off Glenmore Beach.
 
Craig Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said paramedics responded to Glenmore Beach area for reports of a drowning earlier this morning.
 
When emergency services arrived they found that two swimmers had been swimming in the sea, when they got caught by a rip current.
 
“Despite their desperate attempts to get back to shore, only one swimmer was able to get safely back to shore,” he said.
 
The patient was treated on scene for exhaustion and near drowning, and taken to hospital.
 
SAPS Search and Rescue together with NSRI are currently searching for the missing swimmer.
