Boy feared drowned off Port Edward
The Saps Search and Rescue and Water Policing and Diving Service attended the scene assisting in search efforts.
A boy (11) is believed to have drowned off Silver Beach in Port Edward on on September 22.
He had been part of a school excursion from a school in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape.
The boy got caught in the rip current in the surf zone while swimming with fellow learners.
Rescue personnel, including NSRI and Saps, spent hours searching the area but to no avail.
The other children made it safely out of the water and were in the care of guardians.
The school group and family of the missing child are in the care of police.
An investigation has been opened by Saps.
