Margate cops crack down on drugs, illegal alcohol trade
Ncane said police held observation at the taxi rank yesterday (30th) and spotted a man who was suspected to be the culprit.
Margate police embarked on the KwaZulu-Natal Rural Safety operation and arrested a man for selling liquor without a licence at Matsheketsheni area in Margate.
He was released after paying an admission of guilt fine of R2500, and a large quantity of alcohol was confiscated.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said a number of farms, spaza shops and an illegal liquor outlet were targeted during the operation. In a recent separate incident, Margate Drug Task Team received information about a man who was allegedly supplying drugs at the Margate taxi rank.
Ncane said police held observation at the taxi rank yesterday (30th) and spotted a man who was suspected to be the culprit. He was intercepted and searched.
Upon searching him, police found him in possession of 250 capsules of heroin and 20 Mandrax tablets. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R6000.

The 28-year-old man was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs. He is expected appear in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court.
