Achievements galore at Izotsha Primary
At the inter-house athletics, Panther House was the overall winner.
It has been an exceptionally busy, fun-filled week with much action on the sporting front at Izotsha Primary School.
The Intermediate and Senior Phases held their inter-house athletics events. It was wonderful to witness such good spirit, enthusiasm and all-round good vibe, combined with excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
Panther House was the overall winner with Jaguar second and Leopard third. Jaguar House earned the spirit trophy. To top it all, there was a proud historic moment as Malakai Pepper broke the U12 100m 53-year record (1973).
This earned him the Principal’s Gold Seal of Approval, which he was awarded at assembly. The school is also e proud of the age group and overall winners.
Age group winners are as follows: U10 Anna Lechki and Jayden Joubert, U11 Eve Steynberg and Ethan Guest, U12 Tommi Johnson and Olwami Mbhele, U13 Skyla Nadauld and Reece Moynihan.
Overall winners are: Anna Lechki (Junior Victrix Ludorum), Jayden Joubert (Junior Victor Ludorum), Skyla Nadauld (Senior Victrix Ludorum) and Reece Moynihan (Senior Victor Ludorum).
Congratulations to Jayden Joubert (cross country) and Abigail Rush (chess) who have also been awarded the Principal’s Seal of Approval.
The school is grateful to all families who donated books to support the Educare Foundation, which collected the books two weeks ago.
The school hosted a successful chess tournament recently with more than 80 participants. This has proven to be a popular extra-curricular activity. Congratulations to Abigail Rush who was placed third overall. Furthermore, she was the best female player of the tournament.
The Grade R learners had an exciting morning with a visit from the fire department.
Further congratulations go to Briana Naicker, Heresa Lutchamma Dudoo, William Knibbs Aran Moodley and Maariyah Khan for being selected to participate in the Ugu District Mental Maths Challenge finals. Aran placed first in Grade 3, William took second place in Grade 4, and Heresa came third in Grade 5.
Several cyclists competed in the Cycle Lab School Series Race 2 at Howick High School. Owen Bunge placed 6th in the sub nippers category, Angus Bunge earned second place in the nipper category, Emma Rowbotham achieved 4th place in the sub-junior category, and Peter Curtis earned 8th position in the sub-junior category.
