Entrepreneur receives funds for innovative product

She was declared one of the social innovation awards winners 2021.

Margate’s Oxolo Mofokeng was recently awarded R200 000 by the SAB Foundation for her innovative natural ingredient product, bulbine frutescens.

Bulbine is used in cosmetic products.

She was declared one of the social innovation awards winners 2021.

Under this category winners are provided funding and tailored mentorship which contributes to the alleviation of social problems and help to improve the quality of life of many South Africans, particularly women, youth, people living with disabilities or those residing in rural areas.

Overall the foundation which was founded in 2010 provides funding for small, medium and micro-sized enterprises (SMMEs) in order to contribute to economic and social empowerment of historically disadvantaged people through entrepreneurship.

To date, more than R425-million has been invested in social innovation, disability empowerment and SMMEs.
