The Dorado Derby fishing competition draws closer, as it is set to take place from December 18 to 19. The derby will see launches open from Port Edward to Ramsgate, with limited launches from Ramsgate.

It may be shad season, however Margate pier was making it garrick season, with Sbu Mlambo also reeling in a garrick, using shad as bait last Saturday as well. With all the hype regarding the unwanted Shell ocean oil surveys, the Hardthrow Fishing Club also took to the streets to make their stance clear on the matter. Members of the club were out protesting the ocean survey, with a big banner that read, “Some shells don’t belong in the ocean.” It’s safe to say that South Coast fishermen know where their loyalties lie.
