ROAD CLOSED: Ramsgate accident claims the life of one person

Emergency services are on the scene and the road is closed.

An horrific accident on the R61 highway between Margate and Ramsgate has claimed the life of one person this morning.

Rudi Prinsloo of Medevac said two vehicles were involved, with no official confirmation yet as to how many people were in the vehicle.

A motorist in the truck sustained moderate injuries, said Prinsloo, and has been transported to hospital.

“The light motor vehicle and the truck landed on the barrier with the vehicle found under the truck,” he said.

The cause of the crash is not known and authorities are investigating.
